North Riyadh Geopark

The North Riyadh UNESCO Global Geopark is a geological treasure and a living museum. Its primary mission is to advance scientific research, promote sustainable tourism, and enhance global geological understanding. The geopark plays a vital role in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, with a particular focus on agriculture, water management, and environmental sustainability. It is managed by the National Center for Vegetation Cover (NCVC).

Located in the northern region of Riyadh Province, the North Riyadh Geopark spans 3,221 km² and is home to 20 unique geological sites that tell the story of the Earth, its biodiversity, and the rich cultural heritage of the Arabian Peninsula. Thadiq City, which lies within the geopark, was founded in 1079 AH. Known as the "Mother of Guns," Thadiq holds great historical significance for its pivotal role in the establishment of the Saudi Kingdom under the visionary leadership of His Majesty Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Saud. With its ancient landmarks and archaeological sites, Thadiq is a cultural gem, showcasing the region’s deep-rooted heritage.
